Scotland Standouts

Scotland is a magical, mystical place. A land full of treasures and epic natural landscapes ranging from rolling moors and green valleys to dramatic sea cliffs and majestic mountain ranges. It’s a country steeped in history, with a rich cultural heritage. From its dynamic, awe-inspiring cities like Glasgow and Edinburgh to the rugged Highlands, one of Europe’s wildest and least spoiled areas where you can walk for hours without seeing a soul, Scotland has something for everyone. For all its wildness, rebellious history and moody weather, Scotland has a warm and cozy side. And that intimacy starts with Scotland’s lively pubs, traditional Gaelic music, and hospitable, down-to-earth people.

Scotland is also known for being the birthplace of the modern game of golf, with the Old Course at St. Andrews, an ancient links course dating back to the 16th century, regarded as a site of pilgrimage for many tourists and golf lovers. Later this summer, the British Open returns to Scotland for the 99th time in 152 outings, with this year’s Claret Jug being contested at Royal Troon’s Old Course.

This month’s Travel Video share, created by John Duncan, a freelance photographer and filmmaker based in Edinburgh, takes an interesting approach to featuring this compact, yet treasure trove-packed country of many hidden gems. It is entitled 100 Places in Scotland. How Many Have You Been To? And that’s exactly what it does — takes you on a fast-paced journey through Scotland and one hundred of the most popular sites and destinations. If you have already visited Scotland, it’s fun to see how many on the list you’ve been to. And if you’ve never been to Scotland, it’s a great way to see how many wonderful adventures are there just waiting for you to discover. It is no wonder that National Geographic has included Scotland in their Best of the World 2024 list. And Far North Scotland has been named one of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel Destinations for 2024.

Now sit back and enjoy 100 Places in Scotland. Be sure to pay close attention and take notes. And when you’re ready to arrange your Scotland itinerary, give us a call and we’ll be glad to help with all the arrangements so you don’t miss a thing!
