Big Time on The Big Island

I just got back from visiting “The Big Island” of Hawaii and found it to be very diverse and relaxing destination. This trip was a vacation for me and my husband and most of our time was spent on The Kohala Coast doing typical Hawaiian things like watching beautiful sunsets, napping by the pool and enjoying great food in local open-air restaurants among the flickering lights of tiki torches. We stayed 3 nights in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which turned out to be our favorite part of the trip. We love to hike and The Park has some great trails, including hiking on a lava lake and in a rain forest. We stayed at Kilavea Lodge in the Park, which was very cozy. The Lodge is located in the rain forest and has metal roofing, so the sound of the rain on the roof at night made for good sleeping. The rooms also have gas fireplaces and heated towel racks, which are nice after a day of hiking. The restaurant on property has great food and a very good wine list. However, reservations are a must because there are only a few restaurants at Volcano.

Hawaii is such a special place, suitable for all ages, especially those looking for peace and nature.
