Triple Creek Ranch
A ranch vacation has been on my bucket list for a long time and Triple Creek Ranch did not disappoint. Triple Creek is an award-winning luxury ranch resort located about an hour and a half drive south of Missoula, Montana. It is situated in the Bitterroot Mountains, an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for this rugged yet luxurious property. Talk about wide open spaces, this place has it.
The accommodations are upscale log cabins with fireplaces, lots of cowboy art that the owner has collected, comfortable leather seating and super large bathrooms. Some of the cabins have hot tubs on their decks. The cabins are set in tall pine trees with a running brook running down the middle of the property. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of ferns and bird feeders throughout the property, making it a very relaxing place to settle in for a few days or even longer.
The resort offers plenty of activities to keep guests busy, such as horseback riding, hiking, fly-fishing, snowshoeing, tennis, or cooking classes. My favorite activity was a full day trail ride on horseback. We rode up into the mountains and enjoyed a picnic lunch that the chef at Triple Creek had prepared for us. There are several hiking trails at the ranch, so on another day we had the chef prepare our lunch again and took it along with us on a full-day hike. We also participated in a fly fishing clinic. There are 2 trout ponds on the property at which guests can fish. But many of the guests do their fly fishing in the nearby river, which can be arranged by the Triple Creek staff. If you choose that route, you will need a fishing license. Other activities at the ranch include archery and sapphire mining, or guests can arrange to go on a cattle drive for an extra fee. The resort is all-inclusive, so the food and house drinks are included in the price of the accommodations. The food is gourmet quality and delicious, which also made eating one of my favorite things to do while I was there!
My recent Triple Creek Ranch vacation has to rank as one of my favorites of all time. I have never received such high-level personal service like I did at Triple Creek. The feeling there was very comfortable and unpretentious, even though it is a very luxurious, upscale property.
